It's like requesting dub-step on drum and bass night, HELLO!
Tanaka Koki has been getting a lot of coverage these last few weeks, commending his admirable volunteer work helping out quake victims. Today though, he's coming under attack for being KY, and basically an asshole. Suprise surprise. (KY for anyone who may not know, stands for kooki yomenai, which means someone who can't read a situation).

The day in question is some time in late January, when Koki and three mates went to a club in Funky Town and, most unusually, hardly spoke to any girls there.

A regular of the club confirms he behaved totally KY that night - oh please, do elaborate!

Koki is said to have started talking to a foreign guy, but this is where things started to go a little pear-shaped.

Apparently he just suddenly burst out saying 'Clubs are a place to enjoy music' and left his seat. I wouldn't really call that KY. Stating the obvious maybe, but not really KY. So then he goes and requests some hip hop music from the DJ and starts bustin out some sweet moves on the dance floor.

The thing is though, on this particular day that club was having an R&B night. Are you for real? GOD Koki, SO KY.

And since just about everyone there had come to enjoy some R&B with all the skank ass dancing and talking one's self up that it encourages, they were disturbed and bewildered by Koki's reckless action. Dude, wtf are you doing?! You can't dry hump a girl on the dancefloor to Butterfingers, no matter how respectable in the hood those smooth flowing rhymes are.

"He's pretty annoying because he's a celebrity. The whole time Tanaka was there it was hip hop playing." - That same regular.

Koki is famous amongst his fans for loving rap, but even they were starting to tell him to save it for hip hop night. The rest of the crowd thought he was annoying as hell, and the DJ was just apprehensively playing whatever he was told to avoid any JE Diva Dramaz.

"There's a collection box at the front of the club, and he was boasting about how he put 10000 yen in there ($100ish). It was just unnecessary, annoying bragging."

He may love to talk himself up, and gossip, and play hip hop on R&B night, but I don't think he's a bad guy.

And why did they even start talking about the foreign guy? I thought this was going to turn into a story about Koki's really poor taste in racial jokes.

I read it here. Do not repost.

Koki, KY? Say it isn't so. I totally blame Junno for rubbing his KY-ness on Koki :p

This rumor is sounding more like someone's butthurting over Koki LOL~!

Probably the 'regular' was jealous over Koki chatting up the 'foreign guy'. ;-)

Apparently he just suddenly burst out saying 'Clubs are a place to enjoy music'

And get some 'McLovin'.

If this rumor was the result of Koki chatting up a 'foreign guy', I would love to see what would happen if Koki chat up a 'foreign girl' Akanishi-troop style XD

The rumour implied Koki flirting/chatting with girls was more common. If he did an Akanishi-troop style...

Would probably involve LOTS of alcohol and broken Engrish XD

I do wonder though, now that Akanishi is happily prancing around Stateside with his new crew, who took charge of the troop? Yamapi seems to be hanging around that JYJ guy (and his French lady-friend) and Ryo seems happy getting intoxicated by himself :p

And a bunch of 'high-fiving' because Koki's a smooth operator that way. LOL!

who took charge of the troop?

Nakamaru. ;-) Or Yuu.

I had to take a call and couldn't complete my previous comment.

I'm glad you included this part of your thoughts as well. I think Koki's a sweetheart, but I'm also not going to ignore he's a young male celeb. Koki wouldn't be, well, Koki without his oddities. {g} Annoying is a possibility {chuckle} ...but not mean/malicious.

I wouldn't put too much stock into those kinds of things since Koki, himself, said he doesn't go out much these days and he's not that stupid do that kinda crap anyway. When he does go out its usually to play a survival game with Junno and Maru or to hang with some actor or whatever.

I dunno... I think there might be some basis.

While the group has been busy, I highly doubt Koki stopped visiting clubs. He was also with friends. Clubs can be a good way to unwind, have fun, and also get lost in the music. The rumour referenced he was barely chatting up the girls there; instead, he chatted up a 'foreign guy', which something (I can jokingly guess), made Koki back off and want to immerse himself in his 'comfort zone' (e.g. hip hop/dance), especially in front of his friends.

As you mentioned, gossip isn't necessarily fact, but the visual of a 'Diva Koki' somehow amused me. ;-) That and his vibrating rubber ducky and his ass tattoos! LOL!

Hmm...I can't see Koki spouting racial slurs and jokes though, I mean the guy is funny and he makes me laugh but he's not funny enough to pull off jokes of such a sensitive nature like that. I find it highly unlikely that he would make the dj switch the club theme like that and I doubt he's dumb enough to tarnish his reputation as well...if this a gossip rumor about Nishikido on the other hand, I'd be more inclined to put stock into some of it. Can you really see Koki doing any of that just to unwind? Koki knows enough of the English language to carry on a conversation with a foreigner ( if they are american) without feeling uncomfortable.

Alot of these rumors are often told and spread because of jealousy and envy as well most of them being too drunk to know what's actually going on around them.
zurui_koizurui_koi on April 8th, 2011 04:18 am (UTC)

No one said he was saying racial jokes anyways hun, I meant that I thought the story was going to be based around the talking with a foreigner and all that could go wrong with that, but it actually had nothing to do with it.

And I don't think any of this 'requesting hip hop on R&B night' is far fetched for Koki, or really tarnishes his club reputation, because as far as I know he has a pretty bad rep anyway for taking the lime light and spending the evening waxing poetic about his shoe size.

Like I said though, club etiquette aside I don't think he's a bad guy.
mrs_tanakamrs_koki on April 8th, 2011 05:42 am (UTC)
I wasn't talking about his club rep. I was referring to his idol rep. that and if any of it is true...I am pretty sure drunker than a skunk.

I agree, Koki's not a bad guy by any means and I love him to death...I just think that he tends to make bad choices like the rest of us do. Has any of these rumors about his clubbing activities or him being a gossip queen ever been proven true?

? As zurui_koi mentioned, the rumour didn't say anything about Koki doing such a thing.

Koki knows enough of the English language to carry on a conversation with a foreigner ( if they are american) without feeling uncomfortable.

There may be one language... the old 'You + Me + [insert something here - no pun]' that may have triggered an 'oookay, not interested, clubs are for music' reaction.
